Harry Potter's Yellow Fever

Potter Harry Potter's Yellow Fever
The shocking inside story!

by Greg Pak

     07.19.00

Harry Potter Stuck in Dallas for three hours on a grounded plane last weekend, I finally got around to cracking "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," the fourth book in J. K. Rowling's insanely popular series about a young English wizard-in-training. I'm happy to report it's another ripping yarn which I couldn't put down until I'd finished all 734 pages several hours and fifteen hundred miles later.
But why blather about Harry Potter here in the pages of AsianAmericanFilm.com? Because, my friends, I have stunning breaking news for you -- Harry Potter's got a bad case of Yellow Fever.
Astute readers will remember Cho Chang, the winsome young Quidditch player who first caught Harry's eye in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," the third book in the series. I quote, from page 259: "She was shorter than Harry by about a head, and Harry couldn't help noticing, nervous as he was, how pretty she was. She smiled at Harry as the teams faced each other behind their captains, and he felt a slight lurch in the region of his stomach that he didn't think had anything to do with nerves."
Well, in Book 4, Cho's back, and the passion continues apace. When Harry's not dodging dragons in the Triwizard Tournament or sparring with the minions of the evil Lord Voldemort, he's mooning over Cho, trying to work up the guts to talk to her and maybe even invite her to be his date to the Yule Ball.
Admittedly, the romance doesn't get very far. Harry's only fourteen, after all. And by the time he gets around to asking Cho to the ball, she already has another date. But it's interesting that Harry and his friend Ron end up going to the ball with Parvati and Padma Patil. East Asian, South Asian... As long as they're Asian, Harry's good to go!
I guess I could get all huffy and rant about this as another example of mainstream media ignoring Asian men while presenting Asian women as sexual partners of white men. But ya know what? I dig the presence of these Asian females in the Potter books. They're fun, quirky minor characters. Nothing earth shattering, but nothing pernicious, either. Kind of like the Asian American love interest in "Rushmore." Not nearly enough for those of us starved to see non-whites in lead roles. But hey, nice to see and pleasantly non-stereotypical.
Particularly interesting is that in the next few books, Harry and Cho will undoubtedly get closer and closer. So as the Harry Potter movie franchise gets rolling, we might eventually see a great role open up for a young Asian American actress. Of course, it'll probably be seven to ten years before these as-yet-unwritten books get made into movies... But hey, given the state of things, I'm grateful to have something to look forward to.

yes boa is very pretty but her accent is really bad when she talks in english. I dont even know if boa has time to star in a film. It takes months to do. Anyways, wouldn't u rather look at more boa performances and listen to her music? I don't know who Katie Leung is but I'll have to watch the movie to judge whether they chose the right actress for the part or not. She is not really pretty but sometimes the role brings out the actress's beauty. Doesn't Katie go to school in Britain? Her British accent would fit in the movie more than Boa's korean accent in English.

Posted by: jtlangel on November 15, 2005 03:34 PM

I don't think Katie Leung should play cho, she's just not pretty enough. I mean, there are so many sexy asian girls, and Katie's not one of them. Cho Chang is striking, athletic, slim, petite, pretty, cute and sexy, and Katie is plain, chubby, big, ugly and wrong for Cho. If she sucks at acting, then I'm gonna find her and punch her fat tummy

well, i don't know how much i can put in here since everyone seems to point out my point already but....

those who "hate" cho chang for some stupid reason should be ashame of themselves!

seriously, you guys/girls are the biggest, sorest losers i've ever seen! i makes me sick that i wanna vomit!

look, if you audition and didn't get the role, i'm very sorry. but get over it! you should be proud for her! and how the hell you know she's not good enough for the role? i betcha you're not a professional. and to the people who say that she probably didn't want the role as much as you do? well, prove it. i betcha she wanted the role as much as anyone else does. but then again, how the hell would i know? i never met her, eh?

first of all, Rowling did say that she wants an unknown, so if that's her request. let her have it, it's her book anyway!

second of all, warner bros., or somebody DID say that they want all all british, welsh, scottish cast. so, candians don't count, americans don't count, and asians with fobby accents don't count.

third of all, the harry potter movies are intended to be a family movie. so what if she's not hot enough, who the hell do you have in mind to play cho chang? tila nguyen? have you guys heard of a thing called comestics? aka makeup?

and last, cho chang is a minor character. i'll put that in capital letters, MINOR!!!!!! she's not hermoine (sp?) granger or somebody so why the hell is everyone making such a big fuss about it!

jesus, why don't you guys suck it up and go get a life!

Posted by: lisa nguyen on September 12, 2005 08:31 PM

To all you insolent Leung haters, I am a British-Chinese! When you insult Leung you insult me! Especially with all the racist comments she has been recieving. What can you achieve if you continue to put Katie down like this! Those who hate Katie are wasting their time disliking her. If you are simply a jealous girl who didn't get the role of Cho Chang. I understand you would be jealous, but that gives you no right to put someone down by insulting them. There are loads of Chinese actors and actresses and why doesn't anyone make hate sites for them?

By the way, 'Cho' is Korean. 'Chang' is Chinese

Posted by: Wai-Yun on September 10, 2005 02:25 PM

KAITE LUNG IS GOOD FOR THE ROLE OF CHO CHANG and you guys are so mean! i mean just because she got the role doesn't mean you should be MAD! You should be happy for her! How would you feel if you just made a great accompishment by getting the role of Cho Chang and then you go on a website and a bunch of girls are posting about how much they hate you!!! She is VERY pretty and she sounds really nice from the few interviews that there are! and just to hate her because she beat you out in the auditions it the STUPIDEST reason i've ever heard!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: on September 10, 2005 10:15 AM

You guys are so cruel! Katie Leung, well, no one knows anything about her! you can't hate her jsut because she beat you out in the auditions. JK specifically wanted a non-famous actress to play Cho, and you can't hate her because you think you deserve the part, or that she's not pretty enough, because she IS pretty, and if you were good enough, you would of got the part. You wanna argue with JK, go ahead.

Posted by: Charlie on September 5, 2005 01:25 AM

heya me again i am still so mad about kaite . she doesnt even have the wirte shade of hair.

ok well neither do i but at least its a lot darker.

i work hard everyyear to try and get to an audition and then into a film u no nd then that stupid wannabe goes and gets that part what i deserve more thatn her she has almost ruined acting 4 me now i hope to hope for a good part in movie 6 or seven. GOD! she is so selfish. she hasnt worked even as hard as i have with searching on the internet and all!

Posted by: zoe on September 1, 2005 09:40 AM

hey i agree with you all about the katie problem. but what makes me so sooooooooooooooo mad is they never ever tell you when these bloody auditions are . it would be good if they sent us updates or something . nd yeh i bet i wanted to be in harry potter mjore than katie did i bet she just did it because she wanted to get out of school- she has to be replaced brcause i am furiuos.

Posted by: Zoe on September 1, 2005 06:34 AM

omg! this effing sucks! i hate katie leung and i will always hate her for getting a chance to start in GOF!!!!! I have read Katie's portfolio on the net and it seems to me that she's just another one of those spoiled, rich, hong kong girl who always gets her way...i mean is her dad who wanted her to audition for GOF and not herself (all she wanted to do was to go shopping in London!). She doesn't deserve to play cho, and she has totally ruined the character for me!!!

I wanted to addition for the movie soooooooo bad, but noooo i lived in Canada, and it is quiet impossible for me to fly over to UK for audition while i'm still in school and everything. I am extremely disappointed in JK (and others who are in charge of the Hp movie production) for not providing Canadian ppl with the chance to audition for Cho or other Hp characters...

Posted by: on August 4, 2005 01:18 AM

dudes...i am korean...and its not kwan boa...its kwon boa...with an o...anyways...i am an american citizen korean...i was born here...well...yeah...i believe that kwon boa should have be cho...but oh well...they already chose katie...i can't say that shes gorgeous but i have to admit that people can be soooooooo cruel sometimes!!! i mean...just because you think she's ugly doesnt mean that you have to hate her...she seems really nice if you ask me!!!in the beginning, i have to admit that i did not like her at all...i strongly believed that the role of cho should have been played by boa...but to tell you the truth...if your asian...your taste in beauty is different than non-asian people...its very true!!! asian people think that large eyes are beautiful...but non-asians believe that a sort of oriental touch...kind of chinky eyes are pretty...but katie's eyes are rather large...i dunno...well...katie did not even do many interviews and she doesn't seem stuck-up or anything...i pity her...she tried out because of the same reason 4,000 girls tried out...to receive the role of cho chang!!!and she already has to bear the cruel hate sites about her...its really sad...well...just to tell you guys...don't hate her for getting the part...the casting members already chose katie for cho and they won't change their minds...what's done is done...

Posted by: Nickie on July 24, 2005 01:28 AM

i totally agree! katie leung is so plain looking! she doesn't have that striking look cho chang is supposed to have. good lord...

Posted by: amanda on July 13, 2005 09:46 AM

Im really mad Kaite Leung got the part. I think Boa or Michelle Ang would be MUCH better for the part!

Posted by: Chloe on June 17, 2005 07:17 PM

I wrote these

I still think boa should be Cho Chang!!! She would really do a great job at that part...and I think more people would watch the movie if she was in it because she is sooo popular...you know I am american (white) and I love boa!! and I am 17

I hope Boa gets the part, because she would be perfect....and I know a lot of people are saying she doesn't know English that well but she is learning more and more everyday :) she can learn parts in a movie just like she can with her english songs....I just hope she gets the part!!!
GO BOA! YOUR STILL NUMBER ONE

Hey, friends. Just wanted to report the sad news that they've cast the role of Cho Chang -- she's a Scot named Katie Leung. More info at http://www.asianamericanfilm.com/archives/000772.html.

Gezzz... It's hard to get a role in Harry Potter movie huh? Hey, I did wish they came to many different states to cast a role for the parts. Oh well, it's been a long ago audition. They maybe already chosen the part for Cho,Parvati, and Padma. Good luck to those girls who have gotten the part. I'll be waiting to see the movies.

Posted by: Stephanie on May 28, 2004 01:52 PM

Hi!!! I'm Sarah and I would just love to be Parvati or Padma. I do think I'm right for the part because, I think I have a little bit of British. I have been thinking people would think I'm wierd when I act out fun stuff, but I realize that when people laugh at you it's a good thing because, they think you are funny. But I won't be shy anymore, so I would just looove to act in any kind of movie, like Harry Potter.
Anyways let me explain myself a bit. I have black hair(but not too dark) with streaks of highlights and at the tip of my hair it's dark reddish brown; and I have dark brown eyes, and I'm 11. I'm also 5 feet and 1 inch tall. And I'm from Korea! So if you need me e-mail me!!!!!

In order for WB to buy the rights from JKR, they had to agree to cast an entrirely British cast, so it will have to be a british female.

Posted by: MADAM BUTTERFLY on January 13, 2004 06:26 AM

I'm afraid that WB will be casting a Chinese (or Japanese) girl from the UK.

The only way that someone from overseas will be cast is if they can't find anyone suitable in the UK.

Posted by: Julian Smith on January 6, 2004 07:21 PM

okay...i thought Kristin Kreuk would look the part...but she's too old...and the whole thing with BoA is a whole rumour...wen she did a concert in the UK nobody asked her to be in the Harry Potter movies...i agree she does look the part but she can't speak english that well...so i highly doubt she's going to be in it...it's weird i have a filipino friend and she...looks korean/ chinese-ish...she can act...but the thing is we live in the US so i donno if she'll get a chance or wat...cause i heard if ur american...ur completly out of the question...she looks more korean den chinese...but chang is a surname or however u spell it commenly found in korea as well as china...so..she's 5'1", 14, lives in vegas...no acting experience, LOVES hary potter...iono wat to tell her...should she try anywayz...or should she not waste her time and keep on dreaming?? iono wat to think...i heard the casting directors r kinna getting desprate..cause she was supposed to be in the third...and now deyr juss putting her in the 4th...they can't find a cedric without a cho...cause dey wanna make shure dey have chamistry together or something...well...if anyone has ideas please e-mail me...

hi, i'm tally, i'm asian, and i really really really really want to play cho. i'm pretty, have straight teeth, and i know i have an english accent. all my friends say i do when i speak it. i really want this part. and would the people who runs this thing show me some information about the requirements needed to play this part so i could see if i fit. i'll keep in touch and please send me the requirements. thank you and bye

Posted by: Tally on December 31, 2003 12:31 PM

P.S. if boa can`t speak fluent english, she ain`t gonna show in ANY of that shiiz. she may have the looks for cho, but that`s not all that the film-makers are looking for. it`s probably more preferable if it`s someone from america or the UK.

e n n i w a i s e...i`ve searched around and i can pretty much tell all of you that they still haven`t found anyone who could play cho chang. she will NOT be in the 3rd movie, but she will in the 4th one. first of all, if you`re planning to try and audition for cho chang`s part, you`ll need an agent. without an agent they`ll probably not even look at you for the part...but then again, emma watson didn't have an agent and she still made it big. you may also need acting experiences or any others like singing, dancing, etc, but they'll probably prefer if you had acting experiences. emma watson and rupert grint BOTH didn`t have any acting experiences, just to let you know. to be cho, they obviously would want you to be asian. having a british accent isn't necessary, but you DO need to speak fluent english..(please don't audition if you have a fobish accent, and if you're asian like me, you'll know what "fob" means.) you`ll also need to write a short letter saying why you want the part. if you want, you can also send a tape with it. it would also be better if you were the right age for cho, as described in the book. they also would want photos of you, a head-and-shoulder shot, and a full length of you. they don't recommend you to waste your money taking posh photos, though. there is an address where you can send your letters for the auditions, but i forgot what it was, so you`ll have to search for it. and if you`re not really interested as the part of cho chang, i believe they`re already having auditions for parvati and padma patil. what they`re looking for are two asian girls who can really get along with each other. asian girls aged 13-16 are being invited to go along. acting experiences isn`t necessary but the film-makers are being really strict about who they see. they say people who don`t match the descriptions won`t be allowed. the film-makers are more interested in finding twins and sisters, but they say the most important thing is casting two girls who have got good chemistry. you`ll also have to search to find where the auditions are for parvati and padma patil. i think they`ll probably have auditions in the UK, of course.

I don't think Boa is the right Cho Cause she too. And I want asian girls that who is not famoue to play the part.

Posted by: Phuong on December 14, 2003 04:46 PM

One of my teachers told me that there was a part (in fact two) for asian girls in harry potter. So i auditioned and a friend. we both have long dark hair and are about a head size smaller than dan radcliffe. both love in the uk but i haven't got any news back to see if any 1 of us got through or not! It'd be really cool if 1 of us got in but we aint expecting anything!!!

Posted by: on December 5, 2003 05:12 PM

Umm, this may be off topic, but is was wondering who wrote that boa got plastic surgery??? DON'T SAY SUCH NONSENSE UNLESS IT'S FACTS. By the way, whoever plays cho chang, in the third potter movie is fine with me as long as she is pretty and talented. And a word for all those people out there who think they deserve the role of cho, if you think you got what it takes then go for it, stop yapping ans whining with all this bs and stop dis-sin' other people to make you sound better. OOUU.. "i got beautyful black hair and, and..dark black...." OH please...

I'm Korean. I act and I'm a head shorter than Dan Radcliffe. I grew up in the UK for a few years. It would be cool if I could play Cho Chang but it's never going to happen. *sighs* Erm not to be rude or anything but isn't it better not insulting people?

by the way.....the book doesn't say that she has a british accent...the book just says she can speak english.....and the actress who would be playing the role would be train to sound like her....so let's not judge now.........

Posted by: joannefromoz on November 11, 2003 08:48 AM

well...i just think that everyone is talking utter nonsense not realizing that their comments could offend other people racially..
No one should make a judgement about the name Cho Chang as it can be Korean and Chinese or any other language... Koreans have surnames with Chang and first names with Cho and so does Chinese... so let's not fight over with the issue about which nationality should play Cho Chang...as long as she is an Asian (but i would diapprove if a mixed-Asian would play the role...i don't know why....but i just think that a pure asian should play the role) [by the way...I am an Australian Asian and we have a "neighbors" star also auditioning for the part of Cho Chang and she is a kiwi and she is 19....] let's just decide later when the movie comes out if the casting crews has made the right judgement.~!

Posted by: charli on October 25, 2003 10:37 AM

i really think that they should allow non-british to audition too, you know? i mean, there could be asians out there who can act better than british ppl...

Posted by: june-ling on October 25, 2003 10:34 AM

i heard a girl called Jenny Lee might get the part. she's not a professional actress, but she's good. she lives in Melbourne, is chinese-Malayisian-Australian, can do a Brit-ish (lol! the way poms talk!)accent and is looking into professional career. She's kind of lyk a tomboy-gangsta girl, not stunning, but is alrite. heard of that rumour?

Posted by: Andrea on October 11, 2003 05:25 AM

chang is a freakin chinese name for all you idiots out there

Posted by: on October 7, 2003 12:24 AM

I'm sorry, but boa can barely speak english. I think you guys don't know much about her, but here we live in an area with very very high asian population and we pretty much talk about her everyday. It is true that she had a buttload of plastic surgery on her face. She is very popular in Japan, more so than in her native South Korea. She cannot play Cho because her english is not good enough, and she definitely wouldn't be able to produce a British accent. She is also very busy with her music. And we need to get some asian guys up in this thing. The whole whiteman asiangirl deal is really ridiculous

Posted by: on October 7, 2003 12:23 AM

can someone please tell me how you can get to know if the audition is coming up for Parvati and Padma?

Posted by: kath on October 4, 2003 05:52 PM

i don't think Boa should be acting i mean shes not chinese!i've worked out what Chang s supose to be in chinese!an also,it's a very popular suname in china, loads of people has that suname and i, happen to have that surname too,i have strightlong black hair and my height just totally fits!how perfect is that?

Posted by: sandy on October 1, 2003 10:03 PM

Miss Kwan Boa is realy similar to Cho chang ! I hope that you choose her for this character!
Thanks .....

Hey PPL1!!
Guess what ? I am an Asian, And i am probably the Biggest Fan of harry Potter. I Have long black hair and i Have Black EYes and i am an ASIAN!!!!
I am similiar to Cho..and Guess what if I get the role I might Faint On that spot..Bcs i Have tried for many auditions for the role of Ho and if I get it now.. My dreams may come true.....
(HIP HIP HURRAY for CHO!!!!)
PS: AND I BET CHO WILL BE CHHOOO CHWEET!!!!!

Posted by: Shruti on September 2, 2003 08:02 AM

All of the individuals who assume they'd be perfect for the role of Cho, makes me sick....Couldn't help laughing at one of the entries I 've read....it's pathetic.

Posted by: Paradox on August 30, 2003 02:00 AM

i'm hoping that someone with an ASIAN face (doesn't matter which race, but a clear voice able to speak with a British accent) and beautiful dark, long hair, dark eyes, and about a 5'2 height will win the role of chang. that's all i expect. needless to say, a little experience on the stage might be helpful, along with a smile that'll sweep people off their feet. that's all i have to say. does anyone agree?

Posted by: miyoko on August 25, 2003 04:58 AM

hello! evry1! im english here i was lookin 4 who u thought shud play cho and i have 2 say some stuff! in england it is easy 2 find asian/coloured with a british aceent! and it does not say she is chinease in the book(or does it) lol!!! im myself cant wait 2 see who is playin her i think she shud be absouloty beutiful coloured skin and long blak/brwon wavy hair!!!!
luv u all the english girl! lolz!!!

Posted by: Laura-English!!! on August 23, 2003 11:05 AM

Haha, I couldn't even play the part if I wanted it. I'm afraid I'm a not-so-short asian girl who's about the right age. :T 5'4'' Asian-American girl.

And like the person below me said, Boa won't be Cho Chang. And Chang is most likely a Chinese name, since I've never met a Korean person with the last name 'Chang', but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there. Anywho! Good luck to any of you trying for the part :D

Has anyone read the fifth HP book? O_O;; Goodness, JKR's got the stereotypical asian b**** down. = =!

Posted by: on August 23, 2003 07:49 AM

also, it has been confirmed that boa will not be cho chang. in my opinion she looks too old. i'm a month younger than her, but since my height and all, i look a few years younger....^^a

Posted by: christine on August 16, 2003 01:29 PM

i am actually gonna send the resume, pics, and letter to try to be cho chang. i'm 5' so i'm "head shorter" than harry potter. i'm korean and part jap, so all good. i'm so excited! and i heard u need some sort of agent, otherwise you have a slim to none chance of getting the part. when january rolls around, wish me luck!

Posted by: christine on August 16, 2003 01:27 PM

I think that it is so great that they have an asian in the Harry Potter book. I would really love to play the part of Cho in the fourth Harry Potter movie since I'm an aspring actress and I am a Filipina. I think i am perfect for the part since i'm 14, 5"3 and even though my actin experiences are a little limited i know i can play the part well because i am a hard worker. Please e-mail me wid ur comments.

I really want to be Cho Chang. I've been dreaming about it everyday. And I think I'll be perfect for it cause I love acting, I am Korean and I'm pretty sure Chang is a korean last name even though they say it's chinese. I also have black hair(straight). And I'm 5'2 or 5'1 and Harry Potter's 5'5. and I'm 12. so I'm like perfect! And all those people that says that BoA is perfect, I don't disagree or I don't mean to be mean or anything but aren't you saying that she's perfect just because she's famous, and she's the only one that you know a little?

I know how you can audition and you DON"T need an agent.

You can still play the part of Cho Chang if you know how to speak in a British accent!

Posted by: Katherine on August 7, 2003 04:30 AM

You noe i heard that Boa was to old for the part. She was offered but she might not do it. There are other 14 year-old hopefuls out there! She's not the only asian actress who can do it, BUT just to reassure you i support BOA ALL THE WAY!!!

Posted by: on August 7, 2003 04:29 AM

I think Jk ROwling made it pretty clear in her interviews that she will only cast British kids. So for all you ASian american-canadian, and motherland asians...it's not going to happen. Cho Chang will probably be Of Chinese heritage but will most most assuredly be from Britain.
Chinese-Brit all the way!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Emily on August 6, 2003 03:18 AM

BoA kWan had plastic surgery to get that face and she's a bloody bitch. those looks mean nothing at all if she cant act or even speak english. BOA KWAN SUCKS SHIT

Posted by: no comment on July 31, 2003 12:09 AM

Seems this person has the same opinion that I have, except for the 'Asian is Asian' thing. Yah know what, sometimes I hate being Chinese, because these days in America it's a Japanese world, with so much Anime and video games. The worse part is that some Japanese people really hate Chinese people, and no one seems to care. I feel ashamed of my blood, and I don't want no stinking stereotypes!

Posted by: WindSong on July 25, 2003 06:11 PM

For one thing, BoA cannot speak English very well. No offense or anything, but I don't think BoA is suited for the part of Cho Chang. People who are famous and cute just don't go right ahead and take the part, while there are other people out there who would do alot better and actually HAVE a British accent (or in other words, can speak English).

Rumors are said that Anne Suzuki is up for the part too, same goes as for Alyssa Ngo. I don't think you have to be Chinese or Korean for the part, Asian is Asian. Who cares if you're not what they think you are, anyway?

Another thing is that if you posted like, three times in here, it's unlikely for you to get the part. Sorry, but I don't think any of the Warner Bros. crew would come and take a look at this website, seeing an anonymous comment and try to locate where you live just for description. You'd have to have an agent and audition, and going through this on the Internet isn't going to take you anywhere.

Well, that's all I have to say for now. Later.

Posted by: Kyoko Matsuura on July 25, 2003 11:49 AM

I don't think Boa should be Cho Chang. They should chose someone who is not that famous.Cho Chang should be a hmoog because the last name Chang is a hmoog, and a hmoog is Asian.I don't know if Boa could speak english. But they should chose an asian,or Hmoog from American.

Posted by: Ying Vang on July 25, 2003 12:42 AM

Like, i totally LOVE dan, but I really don't think Boa should play Cho Chang(as the rumors say).
I"m asian mysael(chinese) I would LOVE 2 play Cho Chang, but I know I don't exactly fit the part . . .well I have a friend. and she is PERFECT 4 the part, she couldn't be perfecter!!! she lookes asian, and she speaks british, C her mom is chinese, and her dad is british, and she is definitley shorter than DAN. she's 13 (well almost). As a fan of DAN i'd like 2 say that my friend would be a better person 2 play Cho Chang.

Posted by: Vivien Li on July 24, 2003 09:35 AM

(About the Asian American thing, I meant to the first poster.)

Well, jee, go ahead and post it three times to get your point across.

Okay, look, it's obvious we all pretty much want to be Cho, except for any guys that's posted. I want to be Cho, I have short black hair that flips out alot, and I'm an Asian American. I just got my braces off too. But the point is, it's very likely that none of us will get the part. And, I really don't care about what your friends may think, they are your friends. I mean, I'm sure my friends would say the same things about me, and not you.

Posted by: WindSong on July 21, 2003 11:28 PM

I really want to be Cho Chamg, I have long strait black hair.I am sure I'm a head shorter then daniel and I am candian-chinese. I live in Hong Kong and all my friends tell me I'm pretty and I'll be a good Cho Chang.

Was that a "I don't like Asians!" comment or a "Why not Asian guys as well?" comment?
-
And will you people shut the hell up about this Boa girl? All I see on this page is "BOA BOA BOA BOA BOA BOA BOA BOA BOA!" I mean, come on people. Stop. Yeesh.
-
Did anyone realize that the name Cho Chang is almost positively Chinese? I know, I know, maybe the crew will be blunt and pick someone else.
-
There are several rumors concerning who will play Cho, but I kinda doubt it would be Boa, I mean, she probably has her hands full as it is. ...Does she even speak English? I say they get an Asian girl from America.
-
How are they gonna get an Asian girl to have a British accent? That's like... ironic.
-
I think I agree with whomever up there that said that they shouldn't give the part to Boa, 'cause there are other girls out there who are trying really hard to get the part. But really, I don't know if they are holding auditions, I think that they are just looking out for Asian stars. If they were, where would they hold auditions? Britian, Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan? You'd have to be rich to come from China or Taiwan to Britian. It's likely that if they had auditions, the audtions would be held in Japan, likely because they are so modern.
-
I have spoken, sorry for yelling (It was getting kind of necissary), e-mail me if you want to rant against me.

Posted by: WindSong on July 20, 2003 09:07 PM

Boa would be great for the part, but i think that they should pick a less famous person. Boa's already famous in korea and japan(i think). i mean, it's really not fair for the other girls that are trying to the roll. but there is no doubt that it is Boa. There's been sooo many strong rumors about her being cho. and another thing, why can't somebody that's not from britain be in the movie? what, british ppl are the only ones that can do the accents.
