Nominated for two 2003 Independent Spirit Awards, "charlotte sometimes" is a mysterious and erotic tale exploring the kinds of love for which there are no names or clear arrangements.  Michael Idemoto ("Sunsets") stars as Michael, reclusive auto mechanic captivated by a mysterious drifter (Jacqueline Kim, "Disclosure," "Brokedown Palace").  Eugenia Yuan (2003 Hong Kong Academy Award winner in Peter Chan's "Three") costars as Michael's best friend who, despite her live-in boyfriend, holds the key to Michael's heart.

Jacqueline Kim is the first ever Korean American to be nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in "charlotte sometimes."  "charlotte" is the first Asian American film to be nominated since "Picture Bride" in 1995.

"Every once in a while I go to see a movie, out of maybe 400 movies I see in a year, that with its authority, and its mood, and its tone, and its tension, simply captures you; totally absorbs you. That's what Charlotte Sometimes did to me." me...."
--Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

"A sexy, surprising romance. Idemoto and Kim make a gorgeous pair...
their scenes brim with sexual possibility and emotional danger."
--Carla Meyer, San Francisco Chronicle

"Notably cinematic storytelling... The deft shading Byler elicits from his thesps is of a piece with his dramatics and his understated, artful approach to compositions and movement.."
--Robert Koehler, Variety

"Charlotte Sometimes produces enough sexual tension to power a small island and fuel hours of cafe discussion. Byler surprises with subtle charms, conveying drama and intimacy with simple dialogue, improv and deafening silence."
--Todd Inoue, The San Jose Metro
