Greg was kind enough to post "Asian Squat" here at no cost. As you can see there are no ads anywhere on this site...Greg takes in no money for this. Neither do I. Sorry but it is not the "asian" squat. The most accurate term is "monkey squat",which is to imply nothing racial. The "monkey squat" goes all the way back to our primate ancestors and is exactly the same pose taken by monkeys and apes today.There is nothing uniquely "asian" about it!

I think the regents of Stanford University would be disapointed that a student of theirs is making short- films that try so hard to be funny with the details when there is clearly nothing entertaining with squating. I would of thought someone from Stanford could come up with something intelligently funny and not just point out the obvious and pass it off as funny by filming it in black and white and showing a bunch of caucasians doing the "squat".

I got to show this film to my wife who is ABC. She was terrified to see the traditional public toilet(requires Asian squat) in Japan when I took her back home this holiday break. Whenever she had to go in the public restrooms, she had to check if it was the traditional or Western beforehand. Since I grew up using the traditional toilet, the Asian squat is comfortable for me, and I can finish the business faster. And it's more sanitary than Western one in some ways. But, the traditional toilet is disappearing from Japan very quickly. Well, enough of tolilet. Great film!

I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, and I have to say this is soooo true! The one little detail this wonderful film leaves out, however, is the real reason the Asian squat is so prevalent: It is the position Asians use when using the -- ready? -- SQUAT toilet! Try doing a Western Squat on one of those things and you're asking for 1) knee surgery, 2) a bump on the head when you fall off and most importantly, 3) crap on your feet!

Started off pretty funny...little asian lady in traditional wear showing us what the East has passed on to the west...but when you get into modern asians in modern wear mized with the 50's style mockumentary - it looses it's humor. plus the analysis of the squat is too scientific - no humor there either. Downright Hilarious!!! I've seen countless Asian Squaters from the enclaves of Chinatown to the populous suburbia of Monterey Park and the San Gabriel Valley. I never understood the physics of the squat until viewing this film...might try it next time I wait in line at a club!
