"Harold and Kumar" opens this Friday!

07.30 - Posted by Editor

BUMP AND UPDATE: Today's the day! Buy your tickets now!

"Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle," touted as the first mainstream American movie in recent memory (or ever?) to feature two male Asian American male leads in non-martial arts roles, opens this Friday in theaters across the country. Mike Kang digs it. Angry Asian Man has interviewed the stars. So go see it, folks!

If "Harold and Kumar" makes a ton of dough, John Cho and Kal Penn have the potential to become big stars, which means that more movies will get financed with them in mind, which means that more Asian American characters will find their way to the big screen. Which is exactly what we're all about here at AsianAmericanFilm.com.

So check out the trailer and go see it this weekend!

If Asian American want to make it into main stream America, well we will not. Why? We need more Asian American directors, producers, writers. I wish I was wealthy enough to start up an Asian American entertainment or movie production company, and a television channel on Asian American living in main stream America. We need to develop an awareness about Asian American's culture and subcultures. We can have the actors and actress, but we need Asian American that can produce our types of shows and films. We need to start our trend, and quite copying or following white or black America!

The stoner comedy "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle," about two pals with the late-night munchies, rolled in at No. 7 with a disappointing $5.2 million. The New Line Cinema film was budgeted at just $9 million.

And yet this film carries a dark secret -- Kal Penn is actually a vegetarian! The hypocrisy!
