Film Journal International interviews Justin Lin about "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift"

06.05 - Posted by APAFW

Justin Lin's new film "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" opens on June 16 everywhere. Ethan Alter interviewed Lin for Film Journal International -- here's an excerpt:

With only a few weeks left until opening day, Lin is in the home stretch of completing his first big-budget blockbuster. He's already been through the test-screening process and recently got back behind the camera for a quick pick-up shoot. ("Just picking up a couple beats here and there," he says.) Despite the accelerated schedule, he sounds relaxed and satisfied with the experience. "This was like a vacation for me," he says. "It's funny - I made this big summer studio movie and the main thing I learned is that making independent films is a privilege. I know this is probably a bad analogy, but making an indie film is like really falling in love and making a studio film is like dating a model. You won't forget either of those, but they are kind of what they are."
