Wayne Wang returns to Asian American themes

11.07 - Posted by Editor

Kudos to veteran filmmaker Wayne Wang for returning to his Asian American roots with "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers," now shooting in Spokane. From Variety:

Pic is an adaptation of a novel by Yiyun Li that won the Hemingway/PEN Award in 2005. It sketches out a series of stories about contempo lives of Asians in America.

"I haven't done an Asian or Asian-American subject film since 'Chinese Box' in 1997 and, having read Yiyun Li's novel, was attracted by the story of a father coming from China to help his divorced daughter here in the U.S. where he ends up confronting more his own past instead," Wang told Daily Variety.
