DC Asian Pacific American Film (APA Film) would like to remind you that the Scion 2007 DC APA Film Festival Trailer Contest is underway.
Now in its second year, the trailer contest is an opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to display their creativity and skill by producing a trailer, 60 seconds or less, promoting the 8th annual DC APA Film Festival.
This year's film festival, featuring a compilation of dynamic narrative, documentary and short films from the Asian Pacific American community, will be held Thursday, September 27 through Saturday, October 6 across various venues in the Washington, DC area, including the Smithsonian Institution, Landmark Theaters and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
The grand prize winner receives $1,000, with his or her submitted entry premiering on the festival's opening night and each day of the festival thereafter. The second and third place finishers will win, respectively, $500 and $250.
Entries will be judged by a panel of notable Asian American filmmakers including Eric Byler, Michael Kang and Julia Kwan. The panel will select three finalists whose trailers will appear on the DC APA Film website. Visitors to the site will cast the final vote, ultimately deciding who places first, second and third.
All submissions must be received or postmarked by August 17, 2007. Official rules and submission guidelines can be found at http://www.apafilm.org/contest.php. For more information on submitting an entry to the Scion 2007 DC APA Film Festival Trailer Contest, visit http://www.apafilm.org/contest.php or contact Henry Ahn at henry[at]apafilm.org.
